When we first hired Allstate Relocations, they quoted us $1,498.50, and they guaranteed that we would receive our delivery in one week, max. When we requested extra insurance, we were told, falsely, that none was available. After receiving the quote, we sold a full size washer and dryer to cut the cost of the move. The two men who came to pick up our stuff worked for 6 hours before calling in two other guys to help them. The two new guys were very shady, and kept wiping their sweat off on our furniture. At this time I gave my bike to one of the movers for his kid and gave a good computer monitor to Mark, who I later found out owned the company even though he lied about it to us. When they finally finished, we were told that the cost of the move was not lower than the quote, as we expected, but it more than doubled to $3,114. We could do nothing about this since they had already spent all day loading up their truck. After one week went by, I was told they would be there the next day, then the next day, and so on. Each time I waited at home all day, and each time I was told that I would receive an unspecified discount for the inconvenience. Every time I requested to speak with Ben, who I had been dealing with before pickup. Once they had our belongings he was suddenly unable to return a single one of my phone calls, after many promises of, "Ben will call you back this afternoon". When the movers finally did arrive, I saw my bed tied to the back of the truck because they had someone else's stuff in there and ours didn?t fit inside. That's when I said that the discount needed to be discussed before I handed them the second installment of $1557 (the first was paid up front). We agreed on a discount of $311 (10%), if I signed a statement that there would be no further claims right away, and then drive 20 minutes to a fax machine to send it to them so they would unload. I was told that if I didn't do this right then, or hand them the balance with no discount, they would drive away with my stuff. I did, but first I added that the statement did not include any claims regarding missing or damaged goods, since they had not unloaded yet. This was accepted, and one of the movers began to unload. The other one sat on the back of the truck and made anti-Semitic comments while chain smoking and putting his butts out in our backyard. The one box that he did pick up, he dropped on my neighbor?s car, breaking off his side mirror. W hen they finished, I still had not seen my bar-b-que. I was told that it did not fit on the truck and would come later. Two weeks after that I finally received it, along with another missing box. As we unpacked we noticed that many things were still missing or damaged. I called Allstate and told them that we were missing, among other things, a king size bed frame. They responded that the driver claimed my husband had unloaded that himself. When I asked why my husband would have been unloading anything after we paid them $3,000 to do it for us, they said that's what they wanted to know. We were finally told that we needed to file a claim. We did, complete with pictures, and conservatively estimated $300 worth of damage. We received a response that we were entitled to $216 under their insurance policy. We had to sign that we agreed, have it notarized, and send it back. Not wanting to continue to deal with these people over $84, we did it. Then I received a letter stating that since we altered the first statement to not include claims on our goods, we ?took advantage of their trust in us?. They claim that this absolves them from any further action, even though we have a signed letter from their company agreeing to pay us the $216. After I received this letter I called and spoke to Ben. He made fun of me while I was talking and then hung up on me. This was not surprising since everyone at that company has been extremely rude and unprofessional throughout our entire moving process.
