Procedures performed by Dr Del Vecchio are done so in the safety of a hospital under the care of a Board Certified anesthesiologist. The risks you take with surgery are similar to the risks you take every day when riding in or driving an automobile. |

The risks you take with surgery are similar to the risks you take every day when riding in or driving an automobile. The main risks are bleeding, infection, and reactions to medications. Dr Del Vecchio will review the risks in detail with you in preparation for your surgery so you can make an informed choice. |

At your initial consultation, your specific case will be evaluated to see that surgery is a wise choice for you. Once you elect to move forward with surgery, a date is booked, and a "preop" visit is scheduled so you can meet with Dr Del Vecchio again and review all the details. All visits after surgery are included in the surgery fee. |

How long do most procedures typically take? |

Procedure time varies from 30 minutes for breast augmentation and small liposuctions, to 2-4 hours for larger combination cases like abdominoplasty and breast lift. Dr Del Vecchio can give you a more accurate estimate of time needed when you are seen in consultation. |

All surgery is performed in the safety of a hospital. Dr Del Vecchio is on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear ospital, North Shore Medical Center, and Quincy Medical Center |

Surgery is performed under general or local/sedation anesthesis depending on the nature and extent of surgery. Often, patients can choos which anesthesis they prefer. |

We minimize complications by carefully screening all patients for underlying medical issues and by carefully selecting patients as candidates. |

Generally, recovery from cosmetic surgery procedures follows the “rule of 2-3”: It takes 2-3 days for the pain to subside, followed by 2-3 weeks for most of the swelling and bruising to subside, and then 2-3 months for the full recovery. |

Eyelid surgery takes 2-3 weeks in most cases for near complete recovery. Sutures are removed at 5-7 days and most patients can return to work after this time with little or no evidence of surgery, using either sunglasses or makeup. |
