I have had 5 estimates drawn up to side my house and the average range for a 2600 sq ft area was 12-13,000 by reputable companies. However, Sears was going to charge more than twice that... the original quote was 27,481 with a discount of 5,000 dollars and on top of that if I would have signed with him at that time, he would take an additional 500 off and it would bring the price to 21,485, when I told him that I was still getting estimates and that the price he quoted was extremely high (over 50% higher than the other two quotes I received) he said really well we have a fair pricing agreement and what I show you is what it is... and then started with the whole sears has been around for a long time and the other contractors you received probably change their names and you are responsible for replacement and when I told him that it was the same exact siding (alside) he told me that they would "cut corners" and with sears all that I would have to do is call sears and they would have to come out, well I have bought most of my appliances from sears and what seems to be black and white tends to have grey, they double charged me not once, but twice, for a deep freezer and refrigerator and I was so fed up by the end as soon as we get money we just pay it off... so be careful... I was telling my aunt about them double charging and she informed me that they had done that to her as well. My intial call was to tell them that I had been recharged and the lady on the phone told me that being that it was over 6 months old (from when I bought 1 deep freezer and 1 refrigerator) that I would have to write a letter and send it to them via mail, I did that, when I called 2 weeks later they stated that they had not received it... and amazingly I sent another one and it must have gotten lost in the mail as well... so I called them again, they told me that I could take care of it in the store, so I went to the store and the manager said that she could not help me because she could not view anything further than so and so, so I called back and they gave me another number and yet another number, you can see where I was frustrated, so my reluctance of calling them was stated prior to them even coming out to do the estimate and I was assured that they had competitive prices and so on etc. …
