After talking with about 4 other DJs, we were beginning to get discouraged. I know there are people who like loud, flashy, Djs who really run things, but that's just not what we were looking for. We wanted someone who could provide a low key approach & handle all the formal intros, etc., but who didn't want to be the center of attention. We wanted the bride & groom to have that designation! Miriam was just excellent! During dinner, she played nice dinner music and was very considerate with the volume -even came to my table to ask me if it was too loud (my Mom and Mom-in-law are both 90 - and I suggested that could it be turned down just a smidge? Miriam didn't hesitate, and within a minute, it was down to a very "talkable" level. The bride & groom gave Miriam a song list ahead of time and we were all so pleased with the variety of music. Of course, the Electric Slide and the YMCA are big, big hits. Even if you think you don't want them, have them anyway! Our crowd did a ton of dancing to the point that I was wondering if we would be done by the predetermined 1:00 a.m. Miriam said she could stay over, if necessary, but suggested we wait a bit & see. She handled the countdown to midnight, starting around 11:30 (I think!), every 10 mins. or so - had plenty of cute party hats, noisemakers and plastic ukeleles & guitars which were snatched up immediately by the younger set! And sure enough, around 12:30, the crowd started drifting off so that when Miriam announced the "final song," there were just a few folks left and we just sort of drifted off while Miriam & her husband were loading up their equipment. Equipment was great - a tasteful light show,not gawdy-added to the evening's atmoshere or ambiance! Pleassant, easy to talk to, accomodating, really listened to what we wanted. We have 3 younger daughters and one son and Miriam will be doing all their weddings! I am referring her to everyone, we were that happy with her!
